Entry and Computer Requirements

MSc in GIS & RS 

1.    An undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in a relevant area, including Geography, Environmental and Earth Sciences, Natural Sciences, Forestry, Agriculture, Engineering, Architecture, Social Sciences, Business, or a related field, OR

2.    An undergraduate degree with a GPA of less than 2.5 in a relevant area with a minimum of 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience, OR

3.    A Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in a relevant field (approved by the University and the Department of Geography).

 

Master in GIS & RS

1.    An undergraduate degree in a relevant area, including Geography, Environmental and Earth Sciences, Natural Sciences, Forestry, Agriculture, Engineering, Architecture, Management, Social Sciences, Business, or a related field, OR

2.    A Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field (approved by the Department of Geography), OR

3.    A mature student (over 21 years old) who has been engaged in relevant practice for at least 5 years with Diplomas or Certificates (approved by the University and the Department of Geography). For a mature student, the completion of the certificate in GIS with a Pass with Distinction from the University of Guyana provides a strong case for admission to the MGIS/RS programme. OR

4.    Any other qualification deemed by the University to be equivalent to the above. 

 

Computer Requirements 

We set minimum basic computer requirements due to the nature of the program:

1. Operating System

  • Windows 10 or 11 Home, Pro or Enterprise

 

2. Hardware requirements: 

  • Core i7
  • 4 cores, simultaneous multithreading
  • 16 GB RAM
  • Platform x64
  • 512 GB or more of free space on a solid-state drive
  • Dedicated (not shared) graphics memory – 4 GB
  • Screen resolution – 1024 x 768
